Band Discount Card Fundraiser:
The new and improved Dobyns Bennett Band merchant discount cards will be distributed to students on Wednesday (July 25) between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. at the front entrance to the IMB “band building” (after band camp for competitive band students). If your student is not in competitive band, please make arrangements to pick up your student’s band cards at that time. Each student will receive an envelope containing 25 Cards. Thanks to the extra efforts of George and Beth Proffitt, the new cards contain discount offers from over 60 local businesses, which is a great value for a $5.00 donation. You can contact George or Beth Proffitt by e-mail at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org or by text at 423-967-0402 to receive additional cards once you have turned in donations for your first 25 cards. The D-B Band Discount Card donation drive is a great opportunity for your student to increase their student account. For every card your student sells, approximately $1.15 will be deposited into your student’s account. After school starts, additional cards will be available at afterschool practices on Tuesdays.
Chaperone Orientation Meeting – Tuesday, July 24, 2012 @ 6:30 pm in the IMB (Band) building. At this meeting, you will have an opportunity to sign-up to chaperone various events (home football games, away football games & competitions). We will also go over the responsibilities and duties of a chaperone and answer any questions you may have. If you have any questions about chaperoning prior to the meeting, send us a note and we will forward it to our Home Chaperone Chair, Suzanne Ferguson or our Away Chaperone Chairs, Jim & Robin McAdam.
Dobyns Bennett Marching Band Parent Meeting & Parent Show
Please make plans to attend the parent meeting on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 6:00 pm in the IMB. At this meeting you will hear about the progress of the students, the upcoming performance schedule and get answers to any questions you may have. Following the meeting, you will have an opportunity to see your students perform this year’s football show for the first time! You won’t want to miss it!
Final payment of Band Dues should be made prior to August 1. Band dues may be paid by check or through our Online Payment option using either a VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express debit or credit card.

Competition Band Dues are $150.00 and should be made prior to September 1.
DB Class Schedules and Parking Permit pick-up
Seniors will receive their schedules from the Band Staff on Wednesday afternoon (July 25) at Band Camp. Non-competitive Seniors may pick up their schedules at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the band room. The Activities Office will open early for band seniors to begin getting their parking permits at 8:00 AM Thursday, July 26.
Juniors will receive their schedules from the Band Staff on Wednesday afternoon (July 25) at Band Camp. Non-competitive Juniors may pick up their schedules at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the band room. They can get their parking permits at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 26 in the Activities Lobby.
Sophomores will receive their schedules from the Band Staff on Thursday afternoon (July 26) at Band Camp. Non-competitive Sophomores may pick up their schedules at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday in the band room. The activities office will open early for band sophomores to begin getting their parking permits at 8:00 AM on Friday July 27.
Freshmen will receive their schedules from the Band Staff on Thursday afternoon (July 26) at Band Camp. Non-competitive Freshmen may pick up their schedules at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday in the band room.
If the above schedule is not convenient, Non-competitive band students have the option to pick up your schedules and get parking permits in the D-B Activities Lobby as follows:
Seniors – Thursday, July 26 – 9:00am -12:00pm
Juniors – Thursday, July 26 – 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Sophomores – Friday, July 27 – 9:00am – 12:00pm
Freshmen – Friday, July 27 – 1:00pm – 3:00pm
New student orientation will take place at Dobyns-Bennett High School on Friday, August 3 in the Nancy Pridemore Theater. All students new to Dobyns-Bennett and their families are encouraged to attend. Students with last names beginning with A-J will attend the morning session which will begin at 9:00 and end at 11:30. Students with last names beginning with K-Z will attend the afternoon session which will begin at 12:30 and end at 3:00. Following a brief presentation, students will have an opportunity to follow their schedule to find their classrooms and meet their teachers.
